A SWORDS dance crew is set for a return to the bright lights of Hollywood and will stage two fundraising events in the coming weeks to help them get there.

Genesis, who shot to fame during last year's All-Ireland Talent Show on RTÉ, lived out their dreams in 2009, dancing at Disneyland California, working with some of the best choreographers on the planet and performing in front of superstar, Janet Jackson.

Now the group, which is based at the Back Street Dance Studios at Airside, and their tutor, Nikki Fitzpatrick, will be heading Stateside once more in October to further their training with some of the world's leading choreographers.

A barbecue night will take place in The Wright Venue on Friday, August 22nd, in aid of the crew, while a fundraising fashion show is planned for the same location on Sunday, September 12th, and tickets are on sale now from the studios.

' So many words can explain how unbelievable our trip was,' Nikki said of their last American journey. ' We took private master classes with the world's top choreographers.

' Ed Moore, Janet and Michael Jackson's choreographer heard we were in town and came to chat with us in IDA studios. Ed gave a very inspirational speech and Janet Jackson watched in on one of our classes.'

After refining their routines, Genesis moved on to play their biggest venue yet, the Magic Kingdom itself, Disneyland, fulfilling an all-time dream.

' Back Street left such an impression in Hollywood and made some world-class contacts,' Nikki added. ' Watch this space.'

Businesses have been invited to ' sponsor a dancer' at either of the two events, with delicious food, drinks and music promised at the barbecue night, taking place in the Penthouse, tickets for which are € 25.

Meanwhile a range of leading brands in ladies, gents and kids fashion will be on display at the fashion show, with tickets on sale at € 10 and limited seating is available.

' This is just one of a few fantastic fundraising events planned to help raise the funds for Back Street's Genesis crew to return to Los Angeles,' a Wright Venue spokesperson said.
