THE summer is almost over but there's still once major festival left in all of us and it's rapidly approaching. Electric Picnic takes place over September 3rd, 4th and 5th in the sprawling grounds of Stradbally Castle, Co Laois, with another stellar line-up on the cards. And Fingal, or more specifically Malahide, will be well represented in the midlands, with no fewer than three acts from the seaside town taking to the stage.

Villagers, Channel One and James Vincent McMorrow have all been confirmed for the boutique showpiece, capping off another excellent festival season for local artists. Conor O'Brien's Villagers have been the north County Dublin equivalent of Bob Dylan, endlessly touring over the last six months, taking in the likes of Oxegen and Glastonbury along the way. With a number one album - ' Becoming A Jackal' - in the bag and a Mercury Music Prize nomination in hand, expect a massive crowd to descend on the Crawdaddy Stage on Saturday, September 4th.

It'll be a familiar return to Laois for Channel One, the multi-talented four-piece, who took to the stage at the ' Picnic in 2005 and 2007 and play on Friday, September 3rd.

Having released their debut album, ' Sound To Light' last November, the band have just released a free 10-track download on their website, which includes a mix of their earliest work, as well as tracks from the record. James Vincent McMorrow, meanwhile, has become something of an Irish indie favourite, since the release of his debut album ' Early In The Morning' last year.

Entirely self-recorded and produced, the record earned the solo star a nomination for the RTÉ 2fm Hope for 2009 Meteor Award and he'll also be on stage on the Friday.

Aside from the Fingal favourites, an abundance of international acts are set to make this year's festival one of the best ever, as it once again offers a little something for everyone .

Massive Attack, Leftfield and Roxy Music all headline, while the likes of The Frames, Cathy Davey, Mumford and Sons and Hot Chip are amongst the other highlights. And not to be outdone, two of Swords' finest exports - Ed Byrne and Andrew Stanley - will be playing the International Comedy Tent, with the latter acting as MC for the weekend.
