Sonic tailor made for the IOS platform
IF you're a Sonic fan, Sonic CD plays almost exactly like its Sega Genesis era counterparts.
But what makes Sonic CD unique is the time travel ability found in each level. Depending on when in time you are the levels change with different layouts and enemies. So, there are essentially three levels in one for every act in the game, and playing correctly can change the ending of the game.
For the IOS port, Sonic CD is presented with different filters that change the look of the game, and full widescreen supports. The game looks terrific in HD, with vibrant colours that emphasize the changes in time periods. Sonic's simple control scheme is also a great fit on IOS. A time attack mode and leaderboards bring Sonic into this generation, and offer a humbling experience to those of us who thought we were fast. Extras and bonuses such as the option to switch between the Japanese or US soundtracks add to the package.
But cooler than all that is the inclusion of Tails in Sonic CD. After beating the game, you unlock Sonic's two-tailed foxy friend and can run (and fly) through the game again as him. You don't lose any of those features in the IOS version. Gamecenter and Openfeint support are in here, so you get the achievements and leaderboards. This is a great, fully featured port for IOS, one of the best I've seen on the device. Sonic CD is a game for everyone, whether you're a Sega enthuasiast or just a casual IOS gamer, Sonic CD is a must have.
