SUMMER finally came to a close in Swords over the weekend, although the warm vibes coming from the town's pubs told a different story. As the sun shone over the Fingal capital, hundreds of revellers made their way out for one more ' summer night' and an array of celebrations were taking place.
Rugby man kick starts new career
CELEBRATIONS were in full swing in the pubs and clubs of Swords and it seemed you couldn't move for the parties taking place. The Old Schoolhouse Pub is always a good place to hold a bash on any occasion and there were certainly a few informal get-togethers in full swing when After Dark dropped by on Friday night.
Future stars gather for footie camp
YOUNG soccer stars of the future lined out for Skerries Town Football Club's summer minicamp recently. The fun camp, which was held from Friday, August 20th to Sunday, August 22nd, attracted 30 boys and girls aged five to 13 years to the club's pitches at Park Lane. The youngsters were shown fun ways to play the sport, from drills, skills and soccer matches. ' We had a great bunch of children at the minicamp,' said Karen McCaffrey, secretary of Skerries Town Football Club.
Golden pair mark special anniversary
A FINGAL couple that met in an Irish dance hall in Watford, London, over 50 years ago had cause to celebrate recently as they marked their golden jubilee wedding anniversary.
Seniors dance the whole night away
MEMBERS of Balbriggan Senior Citizens group and guests from Swords, Donabate and Dunshaughlin thoroughly enjoyed their summer dinner dance at the Bracken Court Hotel. Organised by the committee, the dinner dance brought 110 senior citizens together for an evening of entertainment and socialising as well as a meal.
