Big school reunion for old classmates
FINIAN'S CREW MARK 21- YEAR MILESTONE
THE year was 1989. The summer commenced with Arsenal leaving a sour taste in any Liverpool fan's mouth as they clinched the then First Division crown in dramatic effect with a late goal by Michael Thomas, winning the title on goal difference alone.
It was the year that Ireland said goodbye to Samuel Beckett while England welcomed Theo Walcott to the world. The charts echoed summer anthems such as the controversial ' Like a Prayer' and ' Love Shack', while the Bangles stormed the charts with their power ballad, ' Eternal Flame'.
Last Saturday in the Harp, those memories came flooding back as After Dark met up with St Finian's Class of ' 89 to reminisce about the year that ended the 80s in style. Sandra Sheridan played a major part in organising the event, which saw select group of friends join her in a quiet drink in a Fingal favourite.
Sandra kicked things off with a nostalgic picture with Peter Davis. The duo were enjoying stories from all those years ago and opted to capture the moment.
This was also the case for Joe Kelly, who flew into Ireland last week to celebrate his parents' 40th anniversary. He also timed his journey to join his former class mates in a reunion marking 21 years.
Joe smiled for the camera with Paul Fagan, Fiona Lynch and Aideen Lydon. Elsewhere, it was also a special night for Anita and Alan Byrne.
The couple were out commemorating their 14th year of marriage with a nice drink out in the Fingal capital. The duo, from Malahide, smiled for the camera to mark the occasion.
And finally, Balbriggan's own Carl Hogan was seen enjoying his 30th birthday with close friends, Fergal and Mary Kennedy, rounding off a successful night in Swords.
