Future stars gather for footie camp
FAMILY DAY ENDED FUN WEEK
YOUNG soccer stars of the future lined out for Skerries Town Football Club's summer minicamp recently. The fun camp, which was held from Friday, August 20th to Sunday, August 22nd, attracted 30 boys and girls aged five to 13 years to the club's pitches at Park Lane. The youngsters were shown fun ways to play the sport, from drills, skills and soccer matches. ' We had a great bunch of children at the minicamp,' said Karen McCaffrey, secretary of Skerries Town Football Club.
' They all really enjoyed themselves and spent the weekend laughing and having fun.' The mini-camp ended on a high on the Sunday as a Family Fun Day took place, marking the end of the three-day camp. Large crowds turned out for the day which had activities such as penalty shoot outs, skills and drills challenges, bouncy castles, face painting and a booksale.
' We had glorious weather on the Sunday which was fantastic as it really brought the crowds out for the family fun day,' added Ms McCaffrey.
