Still finding it hard to shake our mobile habit

WOMEN are more likely to use a hand-held phone while driving than men, according to the results of an AA survey of more than 5,000 motorists. 6.6% of women and 5.6% of men admitted to using handheld phones while driving on a daily basis.
A further 17.5% of women and 15.9% of men admitted that it was 'somewhat common' for them to do so. Dubliners are the least likely to use the phone with 5.0% admitting daily use and 14.5% 'somewhat common' use.
This is well ahead of Cork (6.4% & 16.2%), but it appears the west is the most talkative region with scores of 6.0% & 22.4%.
"We are a nation of phone-junkies, male and female, and we take it onto the roads,' says Conor Faughnan of the AA.
'80% of drivers reported that they saw others on the phone every day.
'We all know that we shouldn't do it. It's a very silly way to earn penalty points but we just can't seem to shake the habit.'
