It is expected that the next town council election candidate will be elected within an hour. Ronan Sheehan, a newcomer to politics, was elected to the town council with 509 votes.
Cllr Jerry Mullally, who has been serving as a town and county councillor since 2004, was elected with 522 votes.
Fine Gael’s Noel O’Connor, who has been serving in the town council for the past 15 years, got 601 votes.
