Tractor run to help raise school funds
TRACTOR fans take note - Clonalvy National School's Parents Association is running a tractor run on Sunday, September 5th. The event will see tractors of every age, shape and hue gather in Clonalvy before they all set off around the local highways and byways. All proceeds go towards Clonalvy National School in order to raise funds for continuing refurbishment of the school. The tractors and drivers will meet in the field opposite St Finian's National School in Clonalvy at noon.
Teddies make first days at school fun
IF you went down to Gaelscoil Ros Eo in Rush last weekend you'd be sure of a big surprise, and plenty of teddies, as the school held its third annual teddy bears' picnic for incoming junior infants.
Laughter guaranteed at Cafe Crunch show
AN up-and-coming Fingal playwright is set to unveil her latest theatrical creation at the Helix Theatre in DCU in just over a fortnight's time. Grainne Jordan from Portmarnock, a new and exciting voice in Irish musical comedy, will stage Cafe Crunch on Saturday, September 18th at 8.15pm. Gráinne has many successful productions under her belt, most notably her play Only an Hour from Dublin, which was staged in the Sean O'Casey theatre in March, to great acclaim.

A GROUP of charity-minded Fingallians have completed a gruelling test of mental and physical ability to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis team at Temple Street Children's Hospital.

THE future of golf in Donabate is in safe hands after an array of trophies were handed out to junior players at Beaverstown Golf Club last week.
Olivia gets on her bike for hospital
A PORTMARNOCK student is gearing up for this weekend's Electric Picnic festival and the 90km cycle trek it will take to get there. Olivia Rusk will be joining hundreds of cyclists who are making their way to Stradbally Hall in Laois by bike, while raising vital funds for Temple Street as part of the ' Tour de Picnic' appeal. And Olivia, who is in her final year studying architecture at DIT, Bolton Street has already well surpassed her target, taking in more than € 1,300 for the hospital as donations continue to flood in.
Scouts lend a hand at nursing home
MEMBERS of the Rush scout troop volunteered their services in Rush Nursing Home last week. The young, eager scouts sanded and painted the residents garden furniture to protect it from the ravages of winter. ' They did a wonderful job,' said manager Heather Carter. The young scouts, under the guidance of scout leader Pat McDyer, arrived at the nursing home full of energy and enthusiasm.

LOCALS in Garristown put their heads together to put their sporting knowledge, general knowledge, political knowledge and music knowledge to the test at a recent table quiz. The quiz was organised as part of the Garristown GFC festival which took place from Monday, August 9th to Sunday, August 14th.
