80s fever at Blue for big charity night
EVENT FOR KIDNEY ASSOCIATION
THE hand of time was turned back to the 1980s as the Blue Bar in Skerries hosted a fundraising fancy dress night last Thursday, August 26th where shoulder pads, leg warmers and eccentric hair styles were out in full force. The event was organised in aid of the Irish Kidney Association, a cause close to the hearts of friends of local man Peter Heffernan, who is awaiting a kidney transplant.
' The night couldn't have been better,' said one of the organisers David Grimes.
' There were great costumes on the night and we want to thank everyone who turned out, the Blue Bar for giving the venue for free and to Risky Business who lent us sound equipment for free.'
The night raised just over € 600 for the Irish Kidney Association with Kate Costello in her ' frilly, lacy' costume winning the best outfit of the night. Runner-up was Danny Murray who painted himself with luminous orange paint and wore a lifejacket.
Representatives from the Irish Kidney Association were in attendance promoting the charity and handing out donor cards to people.
