A great year of play from Harps

TWO IMPORTANT DATES FOR SKERRIES CLUB

Wednesday December 02 2009

MEMBERS of Skerries Harps GAA Club rounded off a great year with two important events over the past couple of weeks.

First up was the club's annual dinner dance at the Bracken Court Hotel in Balbriggan, which was very well supported by members. And then the club's AGM was held in the clubhouse, where members heard of the great year the club had. The club now caters for over 30 teams, from U8s right through to adult, and in addition supports Gaelic games in the local primary schools and the community college.

In addition, Skerries Harps holds a juvenile academy every Saturday morning from 10am to 11.30am, at which boys and girls re c e i v e coaching in the skills of Gaelic football and hurling/camogie from qualified coaches under the direction of their fulltime county board appointed games promo

tion officer.

The club also organises, annually, a schools league competition in May and June among the local primary schools, four summer camps during July and August and also a hurling street league all of which are well supported. The club has also seen players excel at county level at the various codes, while Bryan Cullen, Lyndsay Davey and Ciara Durkan have all received All Star nominations their respective sports. The club is proud of the achievements of these players plus Donnacha Reilly, Colin Daly, Austin Dennis, Harry Dawson, Karen McGlynn, Sinead Cullen, Sinead O'Mahony, Rebecca Davey and Jean Murphy all of whom represented Skerries Harps on Dublin teams recently.

Help at all levels is always welcome, and new members, both male and female, whether playing, mentoring or committee/administration are always particularly welcome.
