Bringing village back into the competition

Wednesday February 25 2009

One of the successes of the Balrothery Community Council in its first two years in existence has been to resurrect the Tidy Town's effort in the village. Chairperson of the community council, Niall Keady, told the Fingal Independent: 'The Tidy Towns committee has been re-established and a big effort will be made to clean up Balrothery Village.'

He said: ' Volunteers have been established and funds have begun to be raised. 'We would appreciate Fingal County Council's support particularly in the area of road markings, provision of litter bins and regular road sweeping.' The community council want everyone to get involved in the effort and see the town climb up the leaderboard in the prestigious competition this year.

Anyone interested in volunteering time or with an idea to make the village look prettier should contact the chairperson of the committee, Anthony McNamee, at 086-3841467.
