Teddies make first days at school fun
GAELSCOIL HOSTS THIRD ANNUAL EVENT
IF you went down to Gaelscoil Ros Eo in Rush last weekend you'd be sure of a big surprise, and plenty of teddies, as the school held its third annual teddy bears' picnic for incoming junior infants.
Teddies of all shapes and sizes accompanied the children to the picnic - a concept dreamt up by the school's Parents Association to make the first days at school less daunting for the youngsters. ' When the school opened three years ago, the parents' association thought this would be a good way to let the children get to know each other, and for their parents to get to know other parents too,' Celena Carthy, chair of the school's Parents' Association told the Fingal Independent.
' The concept behind it is to make the first day at school less daunting as the children will be a bit more familiar with the new faces and this eases them into their first days at the school.' Some 20 children, their favourite teddy bears and their parents attended the picnic on the school grounds on where they played games, had buns, cakes and sweets and afterwards.
