FINGAL County manager, David O'Connor, labelled the Sporting Fingal team as '23 heroes', following their FAI Ford Cup win.
Speaking at the team's official homecoming celebrations, Mr O'Connor looked back on an incredible season and paid tribute to all those involved.
'Following the team has been an absolute roller-coaster and we so much appreciate everything they've done,' he said.
'In these times, we need are heroes. We've got 23 heroes and we've got Liam (Buckley) and we've got the whole structure behind the club.
'It's just so good for us to be able to bring this to you and we do it, councillors alike and officials and the whole structure of the county council.' Mr O'Connor thanked Liam Buckley and John O'Brien for their work and called Fingal Freddie, the Sporting Fingal fox, 'the best mascot of any football team in Ireland'.
'I just want to encourage you to tell all your friends to come to the matches and we'll get more and more people from the whole county at all the matches,' Mr O'Connor told the club's supporters.
