THE Irish Viking's first training session will take place this evening following the enormous response they received from their two registration days held last week.
They were held last Tuesday and Saturday in venues in Balbriggan with their clubs main sponsor Domino's Pizza handing out complementary pizza's to all who turned up to their open day at the weekend. The committee are wasting no time in setting up the basketball club as their first training session takes place this evening in the Combined Clubs beginning at 5.30pm.
The club is open to all ages with membership categories for regular players, juniors, seniors and students. There are also two associate membership categories for players who wish to be involved in social basketball events only and a non player for membership for those
who wish to participate in club activities only.
The club are providing coaching for members aged under seven and upwards and will be establishing juvenile teams for girls and boys in all age categories.
The club also plan to begin senior teams for ladies and men who will play in National Leagues. The committee said they have been delighted with the great response they have received to date as well as receiving sponsorship from Domino's Pizza, Bremore Castle montessori and Balrothery montessori.
This is just the first of many clubs the committee plan on establishing as they hope they will be an umbrella club for a whole range of sports and activities in the future. If you are interested in registering with the basketball club, visit their website www.irishvikings.ie where you can download their membership application form, find out more on their membership rates and club policies. They are welcoming players of all levels and ages would like to hear from people who would like to assist with the clubs activities and further the clubs development.
