Basketball Club to hold open day for new players

Wednesday May 06 2009

BALBRIGGAN's newest sports club are hosting two open days this week to give people the opportunity to register their new club and find out more information on their goals.

The Irish Viking Club is a non-for-profit organisation which hopes to become an umbrella group for all volunteers clubs in the area.

Their plan is to start up Balbriggan's newest basketball club by the summer and then develop into a sports and recreational club for the North Fingal area.

The first of the open days will take place today ( Tuesday) in the Hamilton Hall in the Town Hall, which is above the library, from 4pm -7pm. The second registration day will take place this Saturday, May 9th in Old St Georges school from 1-3pm.

They will give the public a chance to find out more about the club and register if they wish.

All involved have already received a huge and positive response and they are looking at local businesses for sponsorship.

Domino's Pizza Balbriggan has already come on board as one of their key sponsors along with Bremore Castle montessori and Balrothery montessori.

Their website www.irishvikings.ie is now up and running which includes updates of the clubs progress.

The basketball club is expected to be up and running by the middle of June and will begin in the Combined Clubs.
