Colourful group of performers for new year celebrations

■ Chinese performance artists are visiting Fingal at the end of the month.
THE END of this month, Fingal will welcome a colourful group of Chinese performance artists as part of the celebrations for Chinese New Year and to deepen the twinning process of Fingal and the Chinese city of Chengdu. The arrival at Dublin Airport of the performance group from China on 31 January will also receive Chinese media coverage and Ireland is the second stop in a four nation goodwill tour for the group of performers. As well as visiting Fingal, the Chinese ambassador will host a special event featuring the troupe in Dublin City at the Convention Centre. Senior council official, Peter Caulfield will welcome the troupe at Dublin Airport on behalf of Fingal County Council. Also delighted to welcome the group of performers will Be Kay Chan who is Chairperson of the United Chinse Federation of Ireland (UCFI) who was one of those instrumental in starting the twinning process between Fingal and Chengdu. Ms Chan is also honorary principal of the only Chinese school with an Irish name - namely the Dochas agus Misneach School in Lianghsan. The visiting performance group will be some 30-members strong and are in the country to herald the arrival of the Year of the Dragon at the end of this month and in a gesture of friendship to Ireland, Dublin and Fingal.
