Drainage problems

Wednesday July 28 2010

OPEN spaces, which are prone to surface water drainage problems, at Hampton Green in Balbriggan are not yet in the charge of local authority.

Balbriggan Town councillor Dermot Murray (FF) had asked for a report on what the open spaces retrained so much water for such a long time after rainfall.

In response, the council said it had not yet taken the estate in charge, although the process was at an advanced stage and likely to be completed in the near future.

'The developer was required to ameliorate surface water drainage issues in relation to the open spaces prior to completion of the process. The matter will be investigated and if evidence emerges that this required works have not been carried out to the required standard the process of taking in charge will be delayed until it is dealt with.'
