FRIENDS and relatives of the young Swords father-to-be fatally stabbed last week are maintaining a vigil at the scene when the incident occurred. The death of 20year-old James Joyce, whose girlfriend is expecting their first baby, has plunged the close-knit community into a deep sense of shock. The young man was pronounced dead at Beaumont Hospital after sustaining stab wounds last Thursday evening near his home at St Cronan's estate in Swords.
It is expected that the funeral of the young man, the son of Patrick and Rose Joyce, will take place later in the week, possibly on Thursday.
His distraught girlfriend Alison Colgan is due to give birth to their child in three months time.
A RUSH man has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of James Joyce in Swords last week.
22-year-old Daniel McCormack, with an address in Kenure Park, Rush, was charged with the manslaughter of Mr Joyce last Thursday.
At the short appearance at Dublin District Court on Saturday, he was remanded in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court tomorrow ( Wednesday, July 28th).
Mr McCormack was arrested on Friday morning under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and charged on Saturday afternoon at Swords Garda station. No application for bail was made and he was granted legal aid. Mr Joyce, who was 20, was pronounced dead following an incident near his home in the St Cronan's estate on Thursday night.
