Fingal moving on up recycling table

FINGAL is well on its way to moving three places up the European Recycling Platform recycling championship table this month.
Fingal, which collected 30 tonnes of electronic waste at its last free recycling day, currently trails Meath, Limerick and Clare by 8, 10, and 14 tonnes respectively. With an ERP 'Be Free' recycling day set for Skerries on September 19th, Fingal is in great shape to overtake these counties.
The free recycling day will take place at the Mills from 10am - 4pm. ERP is expecting a great turnout at this event, which will be attended by local mayor, Ciaran Byrne and Trevor Sargent TD.
Martin Tobin, General Manager of ERP Ireland and Fingal resident, said: 'We are delighted to be returning to Fingal. The people of Fingal have a strong record in recycling; earlier this year an impressive 30 tonnes of e-waste was collected in one day alone!
'That's the equivalent in weight of 25 Dublin football teams! We are confident that this figure can be topped at the Skerries open day - moving Fingal into 3rd position in our recycling league table.'
The ERP free recycling day in Skerries offers an opportunity to dispose of all types of electronic waste and used batteries. ERP is encouraging members of the public to bring along unwanted items such as TVs, washing machines, IT equipment, fridge freezers and stereos; anything that has or indeed had a battery or a plug and ERP will recycle charge.
The organiser is also asking people to bring along any used batteries that may be lying around the home or garage - from radio batteries to your mobile phone battery even rechargeable batteries and car batteries.
Trevor Sargent TD, Minister of State has applauded this initiative, stating: 'Easily accessible and free facilities are provided by ERP to recycle electrical waste across Ireland.
' The onus is on the people of Fingal to clear their houses of old and unwanted electrical equipment and used batteries this weekend and have them safely recycled.'
