SPORTING Fingal's Community Trust programme was one of several local organisations to benefit from Government funding.

A total of € 135,000 has been awarded to three local organisations supporting integration in the community. The community trust programme has received some € 50,000, while another € 70,000 was allocated for integration grants schemes for groups in the Fingal area and € 1,500 went to the capacity building for the Fingal Ethnic Network. The funding has been welcomed by local Fianna Fáil TD, Darragh O'Brien, who praised the work of Fingal's community groups.

'I am delighted that the Minister of State, John Curran TD, has approved the funding application submitted by Fingal County Council,' Deputy O'Brien said.

'The Sporting Fingal Community Trust programme is an excellent initiative, which provides a range of programmes, through the vehicle of football, that address social issues in the Fingal area, including racism, early school leaving, alcohol and substance abuse, literacy and numeracy problems.'Culture Group party
