THEY may pride themselves on clean transport, but the Green Party were the only organisation to declare election expenses for travel in the race for Balbriggan Town Council.
Their newly-elected Town Councillor, Frank Snowe, spent € 45 on transport and travel costs, along with € 100 on campaign workers. Amongst the other declarations of note was Independent Councillor Grainne Maguire, who spent € 371 on 'publicity' at the Bracken Court Hotel and with local website Balbriggan.net.
Fianna Fáil's ousted councillor, Gerry Buckley spent just € 530, all of which went on campaign literature, € 15 less than Mary Cannon's failed efforts to return to the chamber, the Fine Gael candidate spending € 545 on publicity and advertising.
Labour councillor, Peadar O'Kelly meanwhile, raised a smile. Under the column marked 'own resources spent', Cllr O'Kelly wrote simply 'Visa'.
