A YOUNG Malahide man is within a hair's breath of winning a trip for him and a friend to the World Cup in South Africa later in the year.
25-year-old Fred Gilbert has been shortlisted in the Brylcreem Head competition, which will see the winner land the wonderful trip to the soccer finals.
Celebrity judge Michelle Doherty 'combed' through almost 600 nominations to whittle the list down to five, and included Fred for his 'unique dedication to style and commitment to his coiffure'.
Fred is delighted with the chance to go forward, stating: 'I have always used Brylcreem for my hair, and I am delighted to have been chosen by Michelle as one of the five guys to go through.
' I just want to encourage everyone out there to vote for me. especially the Dubs, because I really want to get to South Africa for the World Cup.'
