THE newly formed Fingal County Council will meet this Friday to elect its first Mayor.
Labour Party will be the controlling power after it won nine seats in the
Local Elections, up three from last time out.
Fine Gael increased its number of seats from five to six, while Fianna Fáil holds four, down one from last time.
The Socialist Party holds three seats, up one, while Independents May McKeon and Dave O'Connor retained their seats.
The Green Party lost its three councillors, while Sinn Féin lost its sole councillor in the Mulhuddart.
Local Elections 2009 was a great day for Labour though as it gained two seats in the Balbriggan ward through poll topper Ken Farrell and Ciaran
Byrne, who retained his seat for the second time.
It was a similar story in the Howth/Malahide ward where Peter Coyle once again topped the poll, while Cian O'Callaghan pulled in a second seat for the party.
And over in Swords, veteran councillor Tom Kelleher was returned by the electorate, as was Gerry McGuire.
The party also pulled in two seats in the Mulhuddart ward through Patrick Nulty and Michael O'Donovan, while Peggy Hamill retained her seat in the Castleknock ward.
Fianna Fáil's Eoghan O'Brien, Darragh Butler, Mags Murray and David McGuinness were all returned by the electorate.
Fine Gael enjoyed a good day, regaining its seat through Tom O'Leary in the Balbriggan ward which it so dramatically lost in 2004.
Alan Farrell and Joan Maher retained their seats in the Howth/Malahide ward, while Cllr Anne Devitt was re-elected in the Swords ward.
Over in Dublin 15, Kieran Dennison was elected in Mulhuddart, while Eithne Loftus was re-elected in Castleknock.
