. A CALL has gone out to construct new traffic lights at Balrothery Village and the R132, main Balbriggan Road junction following a fatal accident there last week.
A teacher at Balbriggan Community School, John Bailey, lost his life in the accident when his motorcycle collided with a car.
Dublin North Fianna Fáil TD, Michael Kennedy, has now called for work to commence immediately on traffic lights at Balrothery Village and the R132 main Balbriggan road junction, following the tragic accident. In addition, Deputy Kennedy has called for a two lane exit from Balrothery Village onto the main road.
Unimaginable
The Fianna Fáil TD said: 'I wish to offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the local man who sadly died in a road crash this morning. It is unimaginable what they are going through at the moment.'
He added: 'I will be making representations to the county council for the provision of traffic lights and I am repeating my call to widen the exit into a two-lane exit from Balrothery Village, in line with calls from local residents.'
Deputy Kennedy continued: 'Plans should be put in place immediately and traffic signals should be installed without delay.
'In recent times, there has been an increase in the number of houses in Balrothery Village to over 600 units. It is vital that this work is carried out now.'
