Pre-season friendlies on the cards

SPORTING Fingal step up their pre-season campaign this weekend, with the first of three warm-up friendlies taking place. Liam Buckley's squad, including six new additions, began training last month and face Monaghan United on Saturday, February 6th, at the home of one of Fingal's most progressive clubs, Portmarnock FC, kicking-off at 2.30pm.
Another of the county's grassroots clubs, Swords Celtic, will provide the opposition for Sporting seven days later, on February 13th, when the two sides meet at Balheary.
And the third of the three confirmed matches takes place on Tuesday, February 16th as Fingal travel north to the Brandywell for a game with Derry City, beginning at 7.45pm.
The first competitive game of the campaign will be in the Leinster Senior Cup at home to Longford Town, on a date to be compared.
