THE Government came in for sharp criticism for one councillor over what he termed was the relative silence of the ministers responsible for keeping the roads safe.
Cllr Alan Farrell also said initially there had been a lack of information from the council but that issue had been addressed.
Cllr David O'Connor (NP) and Cllr Joan Maher (FG) both thanked the crews that were out all night long, gritting the county's roads.
Cllr Maher said it was a 'test of endurance' for her just to make it to the council chambers, even though she used only the main roads.
She said that everyone at the meeting was 'in danger going home in the conditions'.
Cllr Maher was speaking prior to the budget meeting last Thursday and when it was decided to extend that meeting to finish the business on the agenda, the county manager offered councillors taxis, if they were nervous about driving.
Councillors and county management also reminded Fingal citizens that the cold snap was affecting water supplies and to be careful to conserve water use.
