Simtech Aviation International, a flight simulation provider at Dublin Airport, has been presented with the 2008 Fingal Enterprise Award.
Five Fingal companies had been shortlisted for the 2008 Fingal Enterprise Awards, which took place at the end of the annual Fingal Day of Enterprise at the Europa Academy in Swords last Thursday. Organised by the Fingal County Enterprise Board, over 150 guests attended the Fingal Enterprise Awards, which aim to recognise and rewards Fingal's most innovative small-to-medium sized enterprises. Simtech
Aviation International was set up by Fergal Keogh in December 2004 to provide a range of services to flight training students and to airline clients, such as Aer Arann and CityJet.
Praising Simtech's achievement, Oisin Geoghegan, Chief Executive Officer with the Fingal County Enterprise Board said: ' The judging panel were impressed by Simtech's innovative approach to flight training in Ireland and noted how the company had increased its consultancy and corporate gift services, to take advantage of niche opportunities.'
Keogh was presented with a cash prize and a bronze sculpture by Minister of State at the Departments of Education and Science and Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Sean Haughey. In October, Simtech will represent Fingal at the National Enterprise Awards.
Paula O' Neill and Hugh O'Kelly from Premium Power in Balbriggan were presented with a 'highly commended' award and Dr Stephen Gallagher and Nick Teale from Express Study Models were presented with an award for 'Innovation'.
The other finalists, Critical Data Services (Ronan Kennedy and Ciaran Kennedy) and UTrack (Eamonn Hughes and Conor Gildea) are both based in the Blanchardstown area of Fingal.
