THE new global headquarters for SmartBin, a fast-growing provider of cost-efficient, green technology solutions to the waste collection industry, has been officially opened in Swords. The opening by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O'Keeffe follows a period of success for the company which saw it secure an additional €1.5 million in funding, in addition to expanding its global footprint into the North American waste collection marketplace, having proven its success in the European market.
Based in the Drinan Enterprise Centre, SmartBin fuses innovative wireless telemetry and web access technologies to provide innovative, real-time information management and intelligence solutions that help waste collection firms to cut costs and emissions.
Minister O'Keeffe said: 'This is a company that embodies the philosophy of the Government's Smart Economy strategy, which seeks to set Ireland on a path of economic renewal through the creation of a thriving enterprise sector with high quality employment, an attractive environment and first class infrastructure.
' Through its vision and innovativeness, it has created and executed a proven market strategy, which will see it announce new deals over the coming months and years, as it sets its sights on global expansion.
'As a result of this foresight and ability to execute, SmartBin is ideally placed to succeed in this new smart economy and lead the charge towards full economic recovery.'
' We are thrilled that Minister O'Keeffe could come and officially open our new offices,' said Seamus Devitt, SmartBin CEO.
' We have a clear-cut strategy that will enable us to grow our team both here in Dublin and abroad, help us expand our global footprint further across the world and deliver growth with profits.
'We continue to invest in our best-of-breed technologies in order to deliver even more benefits to our ever-growing client base.'
Over the last few months, SmartBin has achieved considerable success in securing new clients. Most recently, it has signed a major deal with one of the biggest book collectors in the US; sold its MultiBin solution to Keystone Waste, a leading waste consulting company in Canada; won a major contract with one of the UK's biggest textile collectors; and has entered the confidential document destruction marketplace with its Secure Shredding solution.
The company, which was recently rebranded from Green Diamond Technologies, expects to further increase employment numbers over the coming year.
