STUDENTS at St Finian's Community College in Swords a very informative careers day recently. A mini Higher Options seminar was organised with over 32 colleges and businesses represented.
Universities, Institutes of Technology, post Leaving Cert colleges, Aer Lingus, Teagasc, Gardaí, Pilot Training College, BIM, Oueen's University, Belfast, University of Ulster and Sunderland University provided information and advice.
All third, fifth and six year students, as well as many parents attended. Guidance counsellors, Rosemarie Barrett and Martina McConnon believe that it was a marvellous opportunity to assist third years with their upcoming subject choices for senior cycle and also provided invaluable course and career advice for senior students. City University also provided a very informative talk on the application procedures to the Higher Education Access Route. The Guidance Department has worked very closely with DCU over the past four years to promote maximum participation in this excellent scheme and many past students are now reaping the benefits in their third level colleges. A most enjoyable and informative day was had by all.
