Thousands left without water after road collapse
10 ESTATES HIT BY SHORTAGE WHILE REPAIRS WERE CARRIED OUT

Emergency repairs were carried out on the collapsed road at the junction of Watery Lane and Rathbeale Road which left householders without water for almost two days.
THOUSANDS of Swords residents were left without water last week following after a partial road collapse just outside the town centre. As many as 10 estates were hit by the outage, which lasted in some cases from Thursday evening until Saturday afternoon.
Areas including Watery Lane, Bridge Street, Jugback Lane, Broadmeadow , Castlefarm, Rathbeale Crescent, Glasmore Park, Mooretown, St Andrews Park and Daleview Road were amongst those affected as council staff worked to rectify the situation.
' Emergency repairs were carried out on a partial road collapse at the junction of Rathbeale Road and Watery Lane in Swords,' a council spokesperson said.
' As a result of these works consumers experienced a disruption to their water supply. We apologise for any inconvenience to consumers in the area and we appreciated patience while these repairs were being carried out.
Meanwhile, traffic restrictions will remain in place in Rolestown until November, as work on an improved sewerage infrastructure for the village continues.
The scheme will transfer sewage from the village to the Swords waste water treatment works via gravity sewers and pumped mains and the second phase, which commenced last week, is due to be completed by the end of the year.
' Traffic restrictions will be in place during the course of these works,' the council said. ' We are aware that these works will cause an inconvenience to residents living in the area around Rolestown and we thank you sincerely for your patience and co-operation.'
