Water crisis

THE council's water services department has agreed to take key local mobile numbers to help them communicate better in times of crisis in water supply in the Malahide/Howth electoral area. The commitment comes in response to a request from Cllr Cian O'Callaghan (Lab), at a meeting of the Malahide/Howth Area Committee.
The water services department said that numbers of key people in the community who could help spread the word would be useful in certain situation. The department said: 'Obviously where emergency incidents occur it would not be possible to provide prior notification, however we could update them when an emergency incident occurs with the likely duration of the event.'
