A FINGAL doctor has warned people using so-called 'legal highs' are 'dicing with death' after a new service delivering the products to homes in Swords began trading. In the week the Government announced an impending ban on a number of items on sale in 'head' shops, leaflets were dropped through letterboxes advertising a 'home delivery service'.

A PERCEIVED discrimination against the discount stores like Aldi and Lidl is to be removed from the latest draft of the County Development Plan as councillors went against the recommendations of county planners. Cllr Anne Devitt (FG) said that dealing with 'discount stores' as a separate category in terms of planning regulations for retail outlets, 'discriminated' against two particular operators, namely Aldi and Lidl.

REIGNING Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Patrick McKenna has ended weeks of speculation by announcing that he has signed to race in the US F2000 series with Cape Motorsports. In common with an increasing number of European racers, the Swords man has decided to forego the usual treadmill of UK and European single-seater racing for the burgeoning US junior single-seater scene. Former Irish Formula Ford champion McKenna has decided to begin his quest for glory in the revamped US F2000 Championship, which benefits this year from an impressive prize fund and promotion by the Indy Racing League as the first step on the 'Road to Indy'. For McKenna, a podium finisher in British Formula Ford last season, the move to the US is a logical one.
