14-man Towers put up a fight

Wednesday February 17 2010

FOURTEEN-man Round Towers put up a brave display against St Judes in Lusk on Saturday, with 2009 minors Aaron Howley and Sean Mulhall performing well for Brian McEvoy's team.

Gary Weldon registered Lusk's only first-half point as they went in at half time trailing by 0-3 to 0-1.

The home side then suffered a double setback when they conceded a penalty, with last man back Damien Hughes sent to the line after he tried to thwart a Jude's attack.

Judes landed the penalty to go six points clear, but successive frees from Mulhall gave the home side a fighting chance.

And although Howley landed a late score for Round Towers, St Judes ultimately prevailed with the extra man.

Round Towers' next match is against Na Fianna next Sunday as they continue their preparations for their league opener.
