DUBLIN COLLEGES
Ardgillan land the derby spoils
ARDGILLAN................2-4 FINGAL CC..................1-6
Wednesday March 10 2010
THE first year students from Ardgillan Community College fought bravely to hold off the challenge of Swords rivals Fingal CC in this very exciting Dublin Colleges tie at O'Dwyers' pitch in Balbriggan last Tuesday.
Sporting their new purple and gold jerseys, donated by O'Dwyers, Ardgillan played against the breeze in the first half and despite some wayward shooting led by three points at the break.
Despite being wind assisted in the second half Ardgillan made heavy weather of proceedings. Fingal finished the better of the two sides and the young students of Ardgillan were glad to hear the final whistle blow, holding out for a one-point victory.
Ardgillan were led by Luke Kimmage, who played a captain's role, while John Reynolds, Charles Power, Dean Farrell and Brian Smyth were also outstanding.
Ardgillan now await the challenge from Synge Street CBS in the next round.
