Cup joy for Ballyboughal as Wanderers are put to sword
Wednesday February 17 2010
2009 Dublin junior football champions Ballyboughal had a resounding win over Wanderers at Frank Kelly Park on Sunday morning, despite missing both Gerry Seaver and Richie Downey who were both away with Jim Gavin's Dublin under-21s in Derry at the weekend.
Ballyboughal were 1-5 to 01 up after fifteen minutes, with Thomas Keogh outfielding his marker to shoot past the keeper after midfielder Danny McGill had played a high ball into the full forward.
And with Eoin McPhilbin pegging on three late scores, Ballyboughal had eleven points to spare over their opponents at the break, 1-9 to 0-1.
With Niall McElligott, Gavin Dungan and Danny McGill performing well, Ballyboughal drove on in the second half, with Cian Delaney, Padraig Flynn and Gavin Dungan all sending over good scores.
And Ballyboughal had put plenty of daylight between the sides before Wanderers rallied well in the final quarter to score two late goals.
