DINNER AND DANCING AT ANNUAL CELEBRATION

Wednesday March 03 2010

WILD Geese GAA Club held their annual dinner dance in Coolquoy Lodge, The Ward recently with their achievements in the past 12 months duly recognised.

The club won the Sheridan Cup beating rivals St Brendan's by nine points and were also promoted to division 9 in the league only to lose out to Parnells in the final just two weeks prior to the dinner dance. The hurling panel formed in May 2008, won the Division 8 Fingal beating Setanta. However the highlight of the year was undoubtedly the exposure given to the club during the visit by former Clare hurling manager, Ger Loughnane when filming a segment for the Sunday Game. The publicity helped to establish four underage teams playing under the stewardship of Dave Sammon.

2010 sees six teams in the hurling section of the club with over 100 children playing. Also new this year is an under 13 camogie team.

Finally the dinner dance is a way of rewarding and thanking all the people who helped the club during the year and a huge thanks to all the committee, managers, trainers, parents and loyal sponsors and supporters of the Wild Geese.
