In- form Geese are flying high
Wild Geese 3-9 St Brigids 2-4 THE Wild Geese continued their remarkable unbeaten home record this season with an eight-point win over St Brigids.
The Geese started the game well, with points from David Rennie and Vadim Lee, and began to dominate the the game around the middle of the field, wth Richie Monks, Derek Ryan and Danny Monks winning plenty of possession.
Mid-way through the first half St Brigids managed to string a few attackes together, but the Geese backs stood up well and ensured no scores were conceded. The Geese were then awarded a penalty when Paul Murray was dragged down in the box and Danny Monks stepped up and buried the ball into the top corner of the net to earn his side a 1-5 to 0-1 lead, but St Brigids were awarded a dubious penalty of their own to close the deficit before the break.
The Geese again got the opening scores of the second half, with Tom Smith and David Rennie on the scoreboard. Then St Brigids came into the game when they tapped over two frees and broke through the middle of the Geese defence to finish to the back of the net from close range.
That left two points in it with 20 minutes to play, but he Geese then got their second wind and registered further points from Paul Murray and David Rennie, before David Mc Donnell scored a fantastic goal after excellent work from Darryl Browne.
A short time later Mc Donnell found himself again in the right position when the Geese cut open the Brigid's defence and he blasted home into the top corner to put the game out of reach.
