Missed chances costly as Olaf hold out for win

Wednesday February 17 2010

FINGALLIANS kicked off their season's account with a narrow two-point defeat away to Naomh Olaf last Sunday.

The visitors started the game without Peter Lawless who, after many years of faithful service to the club, has now departed for Poland

Despite some wayward shooting, with 20 wides amassed, Fingallians gave themselves a fighting chance before half time when centre forward and captain Donal Farrell dispossessed an Olaf's defender just outside the square before shooting past the keeper.

That left it 1-4 to 1-1 at the break, but Fingallians were unable to bridge the gap in the second half despite good displays up front from emerging forwards Eoin Collins and Eoin Martin.
