AFTER their narrow one-point defeat in the last round, St Pat's bounced back in style with this comprehensive victory over the Parish men in Blakestown on Saturday night.

Pat's boss Adrian Henchy handed Cormac Kelly his second championship start alongside his brother Bryan in the half forwards and he rewarded his manager's call by grabbing the first goal of the game.

Gavan Murphy, brother of the Dublin minor keeper, also overcame a niggling knee injury to once more show some tremendous accuracy at corner forward while Damien Rogers, Sean Keogh and Jeff O'Driscoll all stood out for Pat's.

Nonetheless the game took a while to take off with eight minutes elapsing before the first score of the came through Dinny Corcoran.

Corcoran then registered a free in between scores from Mary's to leave it at 2-2 at the mid-way stage.

Then came the opening goal when Kelly, having collected a return pass off Corcoran, beat the Mary's keeper with a rising shot into the roof of the net.

Corcoran then registered back-toback points and Bryan Kelly, who profited well from superb kickouts from Murphy raised the white flag to bring the gap out to five points.

After Corcoran had registered his fifth point of the half from a free, Murphy found the range following a fantastic run.

Donabate even had a goal disallowed just on half time after Nicky Murphy was adjudged to have been in the square prior to finding the back of the net.

Nonetheless Donabate had a comfortable 1-7 to 0-3 lead at the break and continued to dominate after the restart.

Gavan Murphy registered their opening score from an acute angle, before Cormac Kelly was upended by a defender on his way to goal.

The referee immediately signalled for a penalty which Corcoran coolly slotted away on 35 minutes. And although Mary's responded with a free, Jeff O'Driscoll made a fantastic run from the wing back position before slotting between the posts off his weaker leg.

However, a wayward pass from midfield was to see Donabate concede a sloppy goal despite the best efforts of Murphy who, although stopping the first shot, was unable to keep out a second effort from the same Mary's player.

Nonethless, Donabate held Mary's to just one point after that, with Murphy ( 2), Kelly, Corcoran and Dean Styles all on target for Pats. ST PAT'S DONABATE: Colin Murphy, Mark Whelan, Colin Dowling, Damien Rogers, Jeff O'Driscoll, Brian Berrigan, Sean Keogh, Thomas Murphy, Dean Styles, Bryan Kelly, Dinny Corcoran, Cormac Kelly, Nicky Collins, John Lynders, Gavan Murphy . Wayne Knight for Lynders, Eoin Byrne for Collins, Johnny Fitzpatrick for Murphy.
