Ravens crash to star-studded Pars

Wednesday March 03 2010

DESPITE missing several key players, Fingal Ravens gave a very good account of themselves at the Parnells grounds in Artane on Sunday with Keith Kavanagh turning in an outstanding display in the second half for Mick Deegan's men.

Parnells put out a very strong team which included Laois stars Darren Rooney, Colm Begley, Colm Parkinson and new recruit MJ Tierney.

Also included in goals was three-time All Star Stephen Cluxton, but Parnells did not have it their own way, with two first half frees from Padraig Brennan leaving Ravens just three points in arrears at the break, 0-5 to 0-2.

Ravens began the second half in confident style with two early frees from Niall Tormey.

And although Parnells countered at the other end with a point, Ravens continued to grow in confidence, with a score from Ciaran Norton followed by two further frees from Norton.

But with Parnells now beginning to get the read on David Mitchell's kickouts the home side began to take control despite the temporary loss of key midfield man Rooney.

FINGAL RAVENS: David Mitchell, Ronan Nortaon, Shane Maxwell, Jason Boland, Joey Morris, Darren Kavanagh, Ian Kavanagh, Padraig Brennan 0-2f, Martin Flanagan, Stephen Madigan, Ciaran Norton 0-1, Luke Griffin, Niall Tormey 0-7 (0-3f), Damien Flanagan, Alan Casey. Subs: Keith Kavanagh for Griffin, Kenny McDonagh for Flanagan, Thomas McGrath for Martin Flanagan.
