Ravens endure mixed fortunes in warmup ties

AHEAD of their Division One league opener with Parnells in Artane next Sunday, Fingal Ravens held Trinity Gaels to a draw in their opening St Vincent de Paul Cup game last Tuesday week at Balgriffin. The former All Ireland Intermediate club finalists registered first half goals through Niall Tormey and Luke Griffin before Trinity Gaels rallied to tie the game at 2-6 to 1-9.
Ravens then took on Ballymun Kickhams at Rolestown on Saturday, with Derek Byrne inspiring the visitors to a 2-8 to 0-7 victory.
Padraig Brennan and Darragh Kavanagh both registered scores from the midfield sector in the first period, but they were to be Ravens only two points in the first half.
They fared better after the break with Warren Finnegan, Ciaran Norton, and Niall Tormey pointing for the Ravens.
However, Ballymun, despite missing some of their more established players, killed off the game mid-way through the half when finding the back of the net from an acute angle.
