SPORTING CLUB NOTES: GAA
Well done to the first team who beat Naomh Fionnbarra in the second round of the Intermediate Championship in Skerries last Saturday. Thanks to all supporters who turned out in their numbers to cheer on the team. The U-13 boys team play a league match away to Lucan Sarsfields on Saturday, while the U-10s play their first match the following Saturday ( 11th) and U-14 girls team are in action on Friday the 10th.
Congratulations to Hugh and Joanne Fitzsimmons on the birth of their son Rory.
The club is holding a Race Night on Saturday September 25th in Kettle's Country House Hotel, starting at 7.30pm. Business sponsors are now being sought for advertisements in the race booklet and horses can now also be purchased for the race night.

Congratulations to Niamh and Aisling who reached the semi-final of the Aisling McGing Cup with the Dublin Senior Bs after a win over Galway. The Intermediates were defeated by Crumlin in the championship.
Envelopes for the club lotto are only € 2 and are available from Reilly's Daybreak along with other local businesses and the usual sellers.

Well done Amy and Niamh as Dublin booked their place in the 2010 TG4 All-Ireland final following a dramatic 1-8 to 0-9 win over Laois in Dr Cullen Park.
The senior ladies team play Seneschalstown away tomorrow ( Wednesday) at 7pm in a friendly.
The same evening, Lawless Park will host the Ladies Junior B and Junior C championship finals at 7 and 8.30pm respectively.
The Minor Football Championship will be in league format and the first game for Fingallians will be at home next Sunday at 10.30am against Dubh Gall.
The hurlers will play their last league game away to Ballyboden on Saturday at 6pm. The quarter-final draw paired us with Kilmacud Crokes at home on the weekend of September 18th/ 19th.
Fingallians hosted a very successful Leinster Under-12 Hurling Tournament on Saturday. Eight teams participated – A Section: Fingallians U-12As, Portlaoise, Castleknock and St Patricks ( Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny); B Section: Fingallians U-12Bs, Cuala, St Olafs and Knockbridge ( Co Louth). Fingallians finished runners-up to a very strong Portlaoise in Section A. Knockbridge won Section B.
Thanks to everyone who helped out, particularly the boys' parents, to ensure that the whole day ran very smoothly to ensure a very enjoyable and successful day for all.
Registration will take place for the Juvenile seven-a-side in the club on Friday at 6pm and on Saturday at 10am. This is for all juveniles born between 1997 and 2001. Further details on the club web home page, www.fingallians.ie.
Next Sunday the Paud Griffin Band will be in the club from 9pm – admission € 8.

There was a fantastic two-point win by the Senior team last Wednesday over St Marks in the Senior Championship in Balgriffin. Well done to all involved.

In the Phil Davis Memorial Cup it's Donaghmore/ Ashbourne v Ballymun Kickhams tonight ( Tuesday) at 8pm and Skyrne v Fingal Ravens tomorrow at 8pm. The Intermediate team will play Curraha in the Gormley Cup at a later date. Any other games will be notified by text.
There was no winner of the lotto last week. Numbers drawn were 1, 13, 24 and 31 and this week's jackpot is € 2,400. The € 20 winners were Eileen Kirwan, Peter Cantwell and Stephanie de Beger, while the sellers' prize went to Donal. Direct Debit forms are now available from any committee member. You can play three lines for € 20 per month or one line for e8 per month.
Training for adult men's teams is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8pm in the pitch. Ladies train on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm and new members are always welcome. Juvenile training will recommence next Tuesday at 6.30pm.
The club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the McGrath family on the recent passing of Kay. May she rest in peace. Pride of place this week goes to our Junior B hurlers who after just one year in existence have reached the championship semi-final. The team is managed by club stalwarts Tony Larkin, Jack Hughes and Frank Lnych and great credit is due to all concerned for the progress to date.
Congratulations to Denise ( team captain), Cliodhna, Karen and the Jackies who have reached the AllIreland Ladies Football final for the second successive year. The opposition will be provided by either Tyrone or Kerry.
Hopefully the Brendan Martin Cup will make Dublin its home on September 26th.
Our Under-11 and 12 Girls enjoyed a trip to the game in Carlow, playing a friendly against Eire Og on the way. We thank Eire Og for their hospitality.
We wish a speedy recovery to Ronan Colreavy who suffered a bad shoulder injury in the football championship over the weekend.
The Senior hurlers have a vital championship game at home on Saturday evening against Ballinteer St Johns. We need the support of all club members for this game.
Don't forget, if you are not going to the All-Ireland Hurling final you can come along to the club and watch it on our big screens. The club lotto jackpot is now over € 3,000. Please continue to support it. Juvenile fixtures resume next weekend.
Nursery Skills Camps continue every Saturday in O'Dwyers from 11am to 12.30pm for children aged five to eight – € 2 per child.
Well done to our Inter football team who beat Garristown in the championship on Saturday evening. The next round of the championship is on September 7th/ 8th.
O'Dwyers GAA Club are hosting a Mini All-Ireland Fund-raising Tournament from Monday September 13th to Saturday the 18th. The tournament is for children aged seven to 15 years of age, and there are also some adult matches. All are welcome to participate – € 10 entry fee. August winners in the Private Members Draw were: 1st Teras McCarroll, 2nd Antoinette Curran, 3rd John O'Leary, 4th Siobhain Tuckey, 5th Marie Pyne. Thanks for your continued support. There were two more tough league games over the past seven days. On Thursday last a hard-fought performance by 13 lads secured a point after coming back from two down with five minutes to go.
Sunday's game in blustery conditions in Balheary against Stars of Erin was the last league game of the season and an understrength team never got going in the second half despite a good first-half performance.
The club would like to thank all the players for their effort and commitment during the season.
Details of our two club cup matches will appear over the coming weeks and details for next season will be announced in due course.
There will be an U-14 game on Saturday next against Garristown at Balheary and training on Thursday evening.

Best wishes to Conor Ward as he sits his exams this week, from everyone in the club. It was a weekend we will want to forget. Hard luck to our senior team who lost to Kilmacud in the championship and to our Juniors who lost in their championship semi-final. Both sets of players gave it their best and we are proud of the effort from them all. Thanks to all who supported both teams.

Help is needed in all areas of the club. We are appealing to members to come forward and help. The Senior Football Championship team had a heartbreaking defeat from a heart-warming performance against Oliver Plunkett's, losing in the last minute of extra time. Still, the large support for Sylvester's was well rewarded and our confidence and determination to succeed in the next round will be high.
Sinead Aherne scored two vital points and Niamh McEvoy also made a valuable contribution for the Dublin ladies who qualified for the All-Ireland final with victory over Laois. Come out and see both of our Dublin stars line out for Sylvester's tomorrow ( Wednesday) in the Ladies Junior Championship Final against Raheny in Lawless Park at 8.30pm.
The ladies deserve great credit for their achievement in reaching this final and they deserve the full support of the club on Wednesday.
The Intermediate team lost their championship match against Naomh Barrog by two points after creating enough chances to win it.

There was a great win for the Junior footballers in the B Championship quarter-final against Ballyfermot on Sunday night, while the Seniors had a good win over Na Fianna in the Intermediate Championship last Thursday.
Both Minor football teams play on Sunday morning next in the championship. The Minor A Championship team entertain Kilmacud Crokes on the main pitch at 10.30am, while the D team play Raheny in Townparks at 10.30am. All support is welcome for both games.
The hurlers play Whitehall in Cloghran next Sunday at 10.30am in the league.
Congrats to Lyndsey Davey on helping Dublin reach the Ladies AllIreland final after their great victory over Laois, and scoring 1-1 of Dublin's 1-8 total.

The Junior hurlers play Setanta in the AHL 7 at home next Saturday at 6pm. Training for them goes indoors tomorrow ( Wednesday) from 8.30 to 9.30pm at Ward Astro.
Juvenile hurling training also resumes tomorrow at 6.30pm.
