Stars of the future turn out for summer camp
THE young stars of the future at Man O'War GAA club will be eagerly anticipating the new season after having great fun at the club's summer camp. The Gaelic camp, which was held at Bog of the Ring Sports Centre from August 16th to 20th, was a great success as it received the greatest number of players yet.
Children aged between five and 13 were taught the basic Gaelic football skills in the mornings and then they got to put their skills into practice with games in the afternoon. The young players received a high standard of education, as members of the Man O'War first team came to teach them various moves, as well as a visit from Dublin star Eamonn Fennell. ' The camp has been excellent,' said club GPO Carrie Archer.
' We had a visit from Eamonn Fennell on the first day and he focused the kids on the game and gave them a lot of confidence.' Archer heaped praise on the coaches who had come up through the ranks at the club and were now passing on their wisdom.
' All the coaches and helpers have been brilliant with the kids, as well the people in the background in administration, and they have all helped this become our biggest camp yet,' she said.
' Over one hundred children attended the camp and our thanks go to the Bog of the Ring Sports Centre who provided their amazing facilities free of charge.' The camp was topped off by a presentation of prizes to the children on the last day in front of all the parents and first team players at Man O'War GFC.
