Two wins out of two for in-form Sylvesters
Wednesday February 24 2010
ST Sylvester's rounded off a good week as they made it two wins from two in the Vincent de Paul Cup when defeating Round Towers Clondalkin in a midweek clash.
Their opening game against St Judes – which they won on a 1-17 to 1-11 scoreline – saw first-team starts handed to Micheál McCarthy, Jude Sullivan and Gavan McCarthy with McCarthy registering an impressive nine points over the hour.
And although missing a number of first-team regulars Sylvester's were equally impressive in their second fixture, with McCarthy and Ronan Palmer netting a goal apiece that eventually proved the difference between the sides at the finish.
Despite missing former Dublin under-21 player John Coghlan, his brother Niall chipped in with two points, with former Dublin forward Eoin Bennis also amongst the scorers in what was a commanding display by the Malahide men.
