Under-21s make it a sweet double

Wednesday February 17 2010

NAOMH Mearnóg completed a fantastic few days of football as the Under-21s captured the championship following a terrific secondhalf rally at Balgriffin on Saturday.

The team featured four of the side that starred in the seniors' historic win over Clanna Gael Fontenoy at the same venue two nights earlier.

And although losing influential midfielder Sean Kenny early on, Mearnóg were on level terms at the interval 0-3 to 0-3.

With Lee Johnston having a strong game at wing back, Naomh Mearnog closed the game down with ten minutes to go, with Robbie O'Neill coming off the bench to land the crucial points.
