Winning weekend for Harps
SKERRIES Harps completed a superb double on Sunday last when their two minor teams emerged victorious in their games against St Vincents and St Judes in Skerries. Harps recorded a notable win over the Marino outfit on Sunday to open their league account with a good win. In what was a superb team performance, every player on the home side played out of their skin. The full back line of Brian Malone, Aiden Kehoe and Eoin McGinley stuck close to their men and gave Vincents few options. Skerries two Marks – Oliver and Boylan – prevented Vincents dominating midfield although tiring in the second half. Up front, Dawson was always a threat and got good support from Denis Forde and Paul Cashman and the hard working Shane Hickey, while Stephen Crowley was always available to make and take a pass and took his score well.
Playing with a strong breeze Harps went ahead with their first attack following a good catch and delivery from Mark Oliver that found Paul Cashman free on the right. A jinking run finished with Cashman finding the net.
Skerries senior, Harry Dawson, followed up with a point but Vincent's then found the back of the net when a Vincent's player showed good vision to lob the ball over the keeper
Two points apiece left it at 1-3 to 1-2 at the break but with full forward Jack Sheehan forced to go injured, Skerries began the second half without one of their key players.
Vincent's were to level the scoring after the restart but stout defensive work by Skerries half back line of Conor Garrett, Jack Smith – who was man-of-the-match - and Dylan McNamee was to keep the Vincent's scoring down to a minimum. And with the scoring advanced to 1-5 each, Skerries edged in front courtesy of a Stephen Crowley point before Smith and Oliver combined to set Dawson free he found the net with a thunderbolt from 20 metres to put Harps back in the driving seat with a four points lead.
Vincents reduced it to two before Shane Hickey pointed and Dawson made it safe with another point.

Second win Harps then enjoyed a wellearned win over St Judes seconds in their league opener on Sunday.
Playing against the breeze, Harps were quickly four points up with Oisin O'Leary bagging two. With James O'Callaghan and Shane Davis holding sway for Skerries at midfield, Harps had the most of the possession. A sound defence, ably led by team captain Andrew Sexton, with Ciaran Brennan and Shane McDonald to the fore, held a tight rein on the Judes forward line. A goal from Ronan O' Leary after 20 minutes left Skerries leading by 1–6 to 0–3 at the break. With the wind behind them in the second half, Skerries made good use of their possession. When Ronan O'Leary again found the net early in the half Skerries got the bit between their teeth and went on to record a good win.
