SPORTING CLUB NOTES: GAA
Well done to the first team who beat Naomh Fionnbarra in the second round of the Intermediate Championship in Skerries last Saturday. Thanks to all supporters who turned out in their numbers to cheer on the team. The U-13 boys team play a league match away to Lucan Sarsfields on Saturday, while the U-10s play their first match the following Saturday ( 11th) and U-14 girls team are in action on Friday the 10th.
Stars of the future turn out for summer camp
THE young stars of the future at Man O'War GAA club will be eagerly anticipating the new season after having great fun at the club's summer camp. The Gaelic camp, which was held at Bog of the Ring Sports Centre from August 16th to 20th, was a great success as it received the greatest number of players yet.
St Maur's run out comfortable winners
PLAYED in perfect conditions on the well prepared Rush pitch, Maurs ran out comfortable winners in an entertaining game. Maurs opened well and had points from Paul McAllister, Conor Donegan and Paddy Sheridan to go in front, but Judes responded with a well taken goal to level the game on seven minutes.
Emphatic 23- point victory
FINGALLIANS secured their place in the quarter finals courtesy of an emphatic 23 point win over O'Tooles in Ayrfield on Sunday morning. On Wednesday they had defeated Faughs on a 2-11 to 1-11 scoreline to avenge their league defeat in June.
Skerries get chance to defend their crown
TWO sublime goals, one in each half, from Skerries Rachel O'Flaherty were the critical scores that gave the Harps girls the chance to defend their Senior B Championship title in next Saturday's final.
Dubs crash out after a poor semi- final show
ONE by one the Dublin management trailed out of the dressing rooms in O'Connor Park politely declining interviews. It was one of those days when the Metropolitans had little to offer both on and off the field at Tullamore on Saturday evening as the Tribesman set up a final meeting with neigbours Tipperary who had breezed past Antrim in the preceding game.
St Finian's through to last eight
HAVING knocked on the door for the last few seasons, St Finian's are through to the last eight after this hard earned win over Good Counsel in Rivervalley on Sunday.
Wild Geese qualify for quarter- final despite loss
THE last of the group games was played last Thursday in Oldtown on a dark, wet and very blustery evening. It saw the first rematch since St Pats beat the Wild Geese in the 2009 quarter final by five points.
