Geese sign off with draw
WILD GEESE....................... 0- 12 SETANTA.............................. 1- 9
THE Wild Geese finished their season in an entertaining game in Oldtown last Saturday evening. The home side went behind to two early points but stepped up a gear shortly afterwards with a blitz of points from Mick Kennedy, Phil Egan, a brace from Aidan Lenehan and Tom Kennedy and an outstanding longrange effort from Ciaran Smith.
Setanta responded with a goal, but the Geese adjourned with a 0-9 to 1-4 advantage.
A point from Lenehan saw the second-half open well for the home side but it became evident that they could not keep up the pace from the first half as Setanta closed the gap slowly.
A splendid solo effort from Geese midfielder Nathan McCaffrey went over the bar to widen the margin but the visitors plundered two points in the last two minutes to tie the game.
