2010 TT now available for your DVD collection

Wednesday August 25 2010

WHEN we used to get the two tier DVDS and even the old videos of the TT, we got the short version first, and later in the summer we got the long version.

With the latest from the Duke Marketing stable, the 2010 TT is now on the one edition, and it runs for 238 minutes, and coupled with the special features, it is great entertainment. The original idea from Duke was to have both the Blu-Ray version and the old type DVD in the one presentation, but owing to a large amount of customers requesting the standard DVD, Duke have decided to bring out the two different packs.

This will go down well and the price difference is minimal, as the standard DVD is € 19.99 and the double BluRay/ DVD pack is € 24.99 and to be honest I would go for the Blu-Ray pack.

During the practice week I got a first hand look at the workings of the special slow motion cameras, as they were situated where we were taking photographs at Rhencullen 2, and the cameraman filled us in on the workings. When you see this action in full high def slow motion, it is just brilliant. The practice is well covered, and the first Superbike race has excellent commentary from Jamie Witham and Milky Quale, and while I have the greatest respect for Steve Parish, I think the combination of Milky and Jamie are the best. Milky knows the course better than most, and is very much involved with the organisers in looking after course newcomers, and while he is uncharted territory with his commentary, I believe he is one for the future.

The on board footage is for most part excellent, with a range of camera actions, but some of the front camera action sees the cameras facing down on the road, but the rest are amazing, and provide great footage. The sidecar action is tops for me, and whether you like the ' Chairs' or not, you will enjoy this. The emotions of the TT are well documented, and we will look back at this years TT with one rider in mind, Ian Hutchinson. His historic fivewins will never be beaten, and to be honest I don't think it will ever be equalled, but then you never know. In the first Superbike, there is also the controversy of the Guy Martin time penalty, which I think was harsh, but to try and get to grips with his interview in post race, is like trying to interpret a conversation between three residents of Ballymoney, Yorkshire, and West Cork, nearly impossible!! We also see how Ryan Farquhar and Michael Dunlop are denied wins by the increditable Hutchinson, and we see how close the races finish, and the great lap records. The lap record by Conor Cummins in the opening Superbike race, and the double in the sidecar class by Klaus Klaffenbock along with local passenger Dan Sayle, who was credited by Klaffi with his great success. The bonus features are very good, especially the slow motion, and we also see the Moto GP riders at the TT, along with a quick circuit guide, International riders, people at the TT, and a taste of history. The Suzuki 50th Celebrations did not bear the fruits of a TT win, but a lap with Cameron Donald on the Rizzla Suzuki made up for the disappointment and the crowd really enjoyed it. The 2010 TT will be remembered for the five great wins by Hutchy, and the double by Klaffi, and I am sure that when you get you hands of this great DVD you will enjoy the four hours, and if you weren't at the TT you will definitely be sorry you weren't, and will start booking for next year... enjoy!
